Discussion:
Repopulate Reports in SCOM 2007 R2

I've tried to move the DW DB from one machine (SQL 2005) to another (SQL
2008) based on the description in manual !
It doesn't work on first try but after uninstalling the report server (not
the database component) and installing it again the DW DB is communicating
with the Management Group. Thanks goodness.

My problem: for theses steps I had to reset the SRS before being able to
install it again. Now, all the reports have vanished. I know there're all
coming out of the Management Packs. But as all the Management Packs are
already imported the fact is that there are no reports now anymore. Is
there any chance to repopulate the reports to Opsmgr?

Thanks in advance

Hello Alex,

Did you uninstall the opsmgr reporting component, then re-installed it and
restored your db? Then the reports should be uploaded from your management
server and other db again. In some scenarios I have seen that restarting
the root management server really speed that process up.

Hi Anders,

this is what I've done. But the Reporting Area is still empty (even after
waiting for 24 hours). Remarkable: yesterday I've imported an other
Management Pack that was not present yet (Sharepoint). I expected that at
least the reports of this Management Pack should be available under
'reports' in OpsConsole. But it doesn't work.

Any idea how to troubleshoot this? Do you think it's worth to open a bug?

Hello Alex,

I have seen it take a lot of time before the reports shows up. Importing
the same MP as you already have could help, restarting theRMs could also
help. But you did a real uninstall and install, not only a custom move of
the ops mgr reporting role?

Hi Anders,

Meanwhile I'm very carefull with 'Yes' and 'No' statements, learned that
there's always a '... , but ...' necessary to explain the 'Yes' ;-)

But as far as I was able to do it: Yes, I've done the move like described in
the manual (enclosed to R2).

Another idea was to re-import the datawarehouse Management Packs but that is
not possible (reimporting of MP is generally not possible, isn't it)?

When I try to start a report out of OpsMgr Console (e.g. Alerts Report for
any Computer) I got the error message

Cannot initialize report.
The item
'/Microsoft.Windows.Server.2003/Report.Windows.Server.2003.PerformanceHistory'
cannot be found (rsItemNotFound).

Additional Information:

Note: The following information was gathered when the operation was
attempted. The information may appear cryptic but provides context for the
error. The application will continue to run.

Additional Info, Anders,

I get a critical Alert for Datawarehouse. I guess that this is based on the
DW movement:

Critical: Data Warehouse Event Data Dedicated Maintenance Recovery State
Warning: Data Warehouse Event Data Dedicated Maintenance First Chance State

Any idea, Anders?

Greetings

Alex
